How to create a new MySQL database

Most web applications need a MySQL database. In cPanel you create the database, create a user, and then add the user to the database.

Step-by-step

1. Log in to cPanel and open MySQL Databases.
2. Under Create New Database, enter a name and click Create Database.
3. Scroll to Add New User, set a username and strong password, and create the user.
4. Under Add User to Database, select the user and database, then grant All Privileges.

Tips

Note the full database name, username and password — your application will ask for them during setup.
