How to download a full cPanel backup

A full backup contains your files, databases, email accounts and settings. Keeping an offline copy is good practice before any major change.

Step-by-step

1. Log in to cPanel and open Backup under the Files section.
2. Under Full Backup, click Download a Full Account Backup.
3. Choose the destination (Home Directory) and start the backup.
4. When the archive is ready, return to the same page and download the .tar.gz file to your computer.

Tips

Full backups are meant for downloading and safekeeping. To roll back your live site, use the restore tool instead.
