How to upload files and folders in File Manager

The File Manager in cPanel lets you upload and manage your website files directly from your browser, with no separate FTP software required. This guide walks you through uploading files and folders to your hosting account.

Overview

Your website files usually live in the public_html directory. Anything you place there becomes part of your live website, so it is worth taking a moment to upload files into the correct folder.

Step-by-step

  1. Log in to cPanel from your BlueRack client area.
  2. Open File Manager under the Files section.
  3. Browse to public_html (or the folder for the site you are working on).
  4. Click Upload in the top toolbar, then choose the files from your computer.
  5. To upload a whole folder, first compress it into a .zip, upload the .zip, then right-click it and choose Extract.

Tips

Large uploads are faster and more reliable as a single .zip archive. If a file does not appear after upload, click Reload in the File Manager toolbar.
